KtB is Dead

Seven years. That’s how long it has been since KillingTheBuddha.com began. Seven! That’s 63 in Web years. When KtB was born, there were no blogs; Salon was big news; the guy who started Facebook was in junior high.

Old enough to know better, young enough to find something else to do, we who have been here since the beginning have moved on to writing books, having babies, and publishing in magazines that use actual paper. Much as we wish we could keep KtB going, there’s just no more time.

It has been a great deal of fun making this site happen. Many thanks to all who rode along with us. If there’s something we’ve published that you can’t live without, have no fear: We’ll leave the archive up until the internets fall down.

I’m disappointed you’re leaving, but understand the constraints. And just when I found you and was thirsting — dying — for something just like this!

Best of luck to your future endeavors.

  • Hail & farewell, KtB! You’ll be sorely missed, but your excellent, pioneering work has already had a real impact on the blogosphere. Best of luck in whatever you do in future, in whatever medium. I know I’ll be reading.

  • I’ll certainly miss you.

  • I recently discovered KtB (that is, if a few months ago is recent) and was delighted to see thoughtful examination of what it is to be Christian. You sir are a talented writer, and I can’t tell you how glad I am you’re leaving up the archives. It’ll be somehow comforting to know they are there when one day I’m listening to another Robertson-esque diatribe, wondering if all of Christendom has decided they prefer their Christianity without that bothersome “Spirit of Christ” business.

PS I attended CHIC ‘90 at IU. And yes I sat in the back of the auditorium (when I went to the auditorium that is). Small world. Good luck in all your pursuits.

  • Aw geez. I was hoping the switch to a wordpress blog-style format would rejuvenate KtB. :( I really do feel like the world needs this kind of subversive spirituality now more than over.

You will definitely be sorely missed.

  • RIP

  • I’ll certainly miss you.
    Me too.
